They are not kidding. Don't bend it. This gasket is long. If you take it out of the package and hold it near the end or in the middle, just the weight of the gasket will bend it. Mine bent and almost broke but I bent it back very carefuly and it has not leaked at all. These gasket work very well. After I bent mine I cut it into 3 two port sections to make it easier to install and less likely to break again.
